Kerona Scientific Ltd. was delighted to be able to attend ECHA’s fourth Biocide Stakeholders’ Day held in Helsinki on the 1st of September.  The latest information on the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) was covered along with recent developments in the IT tools used in BPR application submissions.

Much work has been done in improving IUCLID 6 for BPR dossier preparation.  The Help function, which has proved to be very useful for REACH registrations will soon be available for BPR applications.  SPC Editor 2.0 will also shortly be in use making it easier to cater for Biocidal Product families with improved capacity for a great number of meta-SPCs within a family.

The fundamentals of a Union authorisation were discussed and the recent adaptations made for biocidal product families were also highlighted.   SME’s can have their status validated by ECHA to see whether they qualify for the discounts available, helping such companies maintain their position in a highly competitive market.

In addition, the Stakeholder’s day provided an insight into the measures that are taken by member states in terms of enforcement and demonstrated the continued commitment of competent authorities to ensure compliance under the BPR is adhered to.
